Monroe County Emergency Management has been coordinating with the National Weather Service Key West regarding current and anticipated conditions. Following significant rainfall and flooding in Key West on Thursday, additional rain and potentially heavy downpours are possible overnight. Saturated ground, combined with an early-morning king tide expected to peak around 4:30 a.m., could bring another round of flooding.
Residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to stay off the roads as much as possible, particularly during the early morning hours. Do not attempt to drive through flooded streets. Floodwaters observed Thursday were deep enough in some areas to pose a significant risk to vehicles.
Flooded streets may contain a combination of saltwater and rainwater, along with debris and other contaminants. Avoid driving, walking, or biking through standing water whenever possible.
Monroe County Emergency Management will continue coordinating with the National Weather Service Key West and provide additional information if conditions or the forecast change.
