This is a mid-level position with the Pretrial Services Program. The individual holding this position is primarily responsible for the assessment and supervision of pretrial defendants, managing the defendant check-in system, scheduling client urinalysis, greeting all visitors to the pretrial services office and directing them to the appropriate staff. This position also includes screening and interviewing defendants for his/her First Appearance hearing and attending First Appearance hearings to report assessment results and recommendations to the Court.
Prepare new defendant files. Secure all appropriate documents and complete necessary paperwork. Review all Automon screens and other databases to ensure all information is complete and accurate. Maintain complete files on all open and closed cases and ensure the accuracy of all documents.
Maintain defendant check-in system by logging phone calls, drug tests and office visits. Instruct defendants on court dates, issue travel permits and complete all updates to the database regarding a defendant’s status or personal information. Retrieve and record defendant calls from answering machine. Prepare warrants, non-compliance memos, and violation memos as needed for the Court regarding defendants that require such documentation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently is preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
