The Court provides the use of courtroom technology as a courtesy to legal professionals and court participants. The Court will make every effort to ensure the equipment is working properly. However, the Court does not guarantee the reliability of the equipment. The Court is not responsible for the user’s own negligence or lack of knowledge in operation of the equipment. The user agrees to hold the Court harmless for any failure of the equipment and any and all claims, damages, actions, causes of action, suits in equity whatever kind of nature as a result of the use of the equipment. The Court advises the users of this equipment that the Court will not be responsible for any delays caused by the failure of the equipment. Users of the equipment should have back-up material suitable for use in the courtroom in the event of equipment failure.

In addition, if the use of certain video applications, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, or Court Call, be needed for a court hearing, it is the responsibility of the legal professionals or hearing participants to ensure those applications have a functioning account (if needed) PRIOR to arriving at the court house. The Court is not responsible for inoperable or incompatible video applications or the lack of poor connectivity for parties outside of the court house.

The Monroe County Courthouse courtrooms feature traditional and modern technology to create a robust experience for digitally presenting and viewing trial evidence.  The following equipment can be reserved for use at the Freeman Justice Center in Key West.  Our Plantation Key and Marathon locations have dedicated equipment in each courtroom.

• HEARING ROOMS: Court Technology provides an Audio/Visual cart that includes a large monitor and speakers. Attorneys are responsible for providing the equipment (e.g., laptop) or device (e.g., iPad) needed to conduct their business during a hearing.

• COURTROOMS: Upon request, Court Technology can provide a 70" touch screen "Smart Board",  a 75" mobile TV cart with computer, All-in-One Evidence Cart with Document Projector (a.k.a. "ELMO"), or traditional projector and screen for use during a trial.

NOTE: A minimum 24-hour advance notice is required when reserving any of the equipment listed above.

Reasonable efforts are made to support technology and media brought from outside of the courthouse for use during trial (laptops, CDs, DVDs, etc.); however, it is strongly recommended that legal counsel use the equipment provided.
